President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced that Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta would update the public on Thursday on the government’s measures to solve the nation’s present economic issues.

The President is hoping to clarify the government’s intentions to solve the difficulties and resuscitate the economy through the address.

The Minister of Information in a press release earlier this week announced this address slated for tomorrow, Thursday 24th March 2022.

President Akufo-Addo, according to the minister, has already authorized a series of “far-reaching steps” to tackle issues like the Cedi’s weakening, excessive public spending, inflation, and fuel price rises.

Over the weekend, Cabinet convened in Peduase to discuss a slew of challenges affecting the nation, including increasing oil prices and inflationary pressures, and explore ways to address them.

As news of the economic state of the country has progressed over the past week, there have been calls for the economic genius and “dollar police” Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to speak on the Ghanaian economy.

In a confirmed statement by his spokesperson, Gideon Boako, the Vice President will speak in April (date to be announced later).

“The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will speak next month, in April 2022, also at a platform somewhere in Cape Coast, for you to see that the Government has rolled out a plan to deal with the issues,” he said.

Dr Boako has previously dismissed suggestions that Dr Bawumia was avoiding speaking on the economy’s present problems, notably the cedi’s fall versus the US dollar.
